[Job Title] Associate Program Officer (Japanese Language Education Program Coordinator)
[Position] Full-time
[Expected Start Date] December 1st, 2024 (Start date is negotiable.)
[Location] The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles
[Work Schedule] Monday to Friday, Regular Hours: 9:30am – 5:30pm (7-hour work time & 1-hour lunch break per day)
Flexible Schedule
You may change your shift schedule as needed (Example: 10am-6pm including lunch break).
Work-from-home is allowed up to twice a week.
[Key Responsibilities]
- Coordinate grant programs related to the Japanese language education in the U.S.
- Networking/collaborating in both Japanese and English with foreign language educators, teachers’ associations, and school administrators (K-16 institutions and heritage language schools, etc.), mainly with the Japanese language education field.

- Plan and coordinate Japanese language related events and projects.
- Research and collect information related to the field of Japanese language education.
- Promote and enhance awareness of JFLA grants and projects. Create program materials and publications.
(e.g. newsletters, fliers, SNS posts, and webpages, etc.) - English-Japanese/Japanese-English translation and proofreading
- Perform other related duties/responsibilities assigned by Director or Deputy Director
[Required Qualifications]
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (Visa support not available).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent work experience preferred.
- Superior written and verbal communication in Japanese (Equivalent to JLPT Level N1) and English.
- Willingness and ability to travel and hold/attend occasional weekend events.
A strong candidate will also possess:
- Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task.
- Experience with grant management
- Experience with and/or interest in Japanese language education.
- Academic background in Japan-related field, preferably the Japanese language education related.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
[Salary] Starting $43,300 plus a year
The salary of newly hired staff will be determined based on their background of education, experience, skills, etc.
