Adjunct Instructor of Japanese

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Mary Washington is seeking an Adjunct Language Instructor to teach 3 credits (one course) of Japanese language in the Fall semester 2024. Candidates should have a Master’s degree (or its equivalent) in Japanese or a related field and native fluency. The selected candidate will be paid according to the Commonwealth of Virginia’s adjunct schedule based on degree and previous experience teaching at the college level. If needed, the department can arrange for on-campus housing. Other benefits include airport pick-up services, a linen package and additional support with the necessary visa documentation. Instructors may purchase a university meal plan if desired.

The selected candidate should be an energetic person who seeks to have a teaching experience in the US, benefit from a supportive teaching environment, and closely work with other faculty in the growing Japanese program and our students interested in Japanese language and culture at large. This person will encourage Japanese language study at UMW and can help further cultivate interest in Japan.
