The Japanese for Specific Purposes (JSP) SIG was established in 2007 to support teachers of JSP by fostering a network among JSP educators and offering academic activities to share and learn about various issues related to teaching JSP. JSP can be broadly interpreted as a Japanese language course integrated with specialized areas such as business, science, politics, international relations, and more.

Goals:

The SIG’s overarching goals include, but are not limited to:

  1. Providing support and guidance to teachers interested in teaching JSP.
  2. Fostering a network among JSP educators and offering opportunities for collaboration.
  3. Sharing information and resources for JSP and LSP fields.

Activities and Highlights:
Incorporate these into the description or list them, following these guidelines:

  • JSP members regularly present panels at conferences such as the AATJ Fall Conference and AATJ Spring Conference.
  • The JSP newsletter has been published.
