The AATJ 2026 Spring Conference will be held on March 12, 2026 in Vancouver, BC, Canada, in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Association for Asian Studies. Presenters should be prepared to give their presentations in person. Proposals are due by Monday, October 27, 2025, 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Individual papers are 20 minutes long with an additional 5 minutes for Q&A.

Please note that individuals may submit only one proposal, as presenter, co-presenter, discussant, or panel member. This includes participation in SIG panels and presentations.

This will be an in-person conference, and all presenters are required to attend and present in person. In addition, all presenters must be active AATJ members in good standing (i.e., annual membership dues paid) at the time of the conference.

Thanks to The Oka Professional Development Fund, five $1,000 scholarships will be available for participants in the 2026 AATJ Spring Conference. Priority will be given to three groups— (1) presenters, (2) graduate students, and (3) junior faculty/early-career instructors. Further details will be announced later this year, and early-career scholars are strongly encouraged to submit a proposal.
