Two Summer Instructor Positions

The Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU) invites applications for two summer instructor positions. Period of appointment: June 8 – August 7, 2025. Qualifications: A master’s degree or higher, preferably in Japanese language pedagogy, applied linguistics, or a related field in education or Japanese studies. Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching all levels of Japanese at the college level in the United States. Responsibilities: Teach a maximum of 18 hours per week of Japanese-language courses (Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced). Additional responsibilities include student advising and contributing to the Center's activities and services. Housing: JCMU will provide rent-free housing at the Center, which includes basic furniture, appliances, and utensils. Utility expenses must be paid by the tenant. JCMU will cover airfare for the shortest route from the instructor’s nearest airport to Japan. Salary: Starting from ¥632,000, depending on teaching experience and highest degree earned. Visiting Assistant Professor in Japanese Language, AY2025-26

WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY’s Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Japanese language, beginning on July 1, 2025. Responsibilities include teaching Japanese language courses across multiple levels, including a Professional Japanese course. Position Description The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University anticipates one or more possible openings for a full-time Language Instructor/Teaching Assistant in Japanese expected to begin August 1, 2025 and to extend through June 30, 2026. Position Description The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University seeks applications for a full-time Preceptor in Japanese. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2025. The preceptor will be responsible for acting as instructor in charge of one of the levels of Japanese taught at Harvard, between elementary and advanced (fifth year level), and for training and supervising instructors in the Japanese program. This is a 10-month annual tenure track appointment. Japanese part-time teaching position

Position Summary: The Foreign Language department is seeking a Japanese adjunct professor to substitute and/or teach Elementary and Intermediate level Japanese language courses in the evening on Zoom or in person. JCCC is located in Overland Park, KS, the second largest city in the state of Kansas and part of the greater Kansas City Metro. The Kansas City Metro is known for its museums, restaurants, and music and art scenes. JCCC is similarly dedicated to creating and maintaining a rich cultural community, with an award-winning contemporary art museum and center for the performing arts located on campus. The Foreign Language Department is part of the Communications Division. Many of our students are non-traditional, military veterans, immigrants, international and first-generation college students.
