Posting: The Department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT) seeks candidates for a one-year, sabbatical replacement, Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese to begin August 2025.

Candidates will be either ABD or hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Japanese language, pedagogy, linguistics, literature, or other related disciplines at the time of employment. Successful candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. We are especially interested in candidates capable of teaching Japanese language classes at a range of student proficiency levels.

Essential job functions include classroom teaching, research and other professional development activities, and service to the department.

The mission of RHIT is to offer students “the world’s best undergraduate science, engineering and mathematics education in an environment of individual attention and support.” Our campus in west-central Indiana is home to 2,100 students with a passion for learning. The visiting assistant professor will join a multidisciplinary liberal arts department that teaches all Rose-Hulman students, offering many popular minors—including Japanese—and a second major in International Studies.
