Teaching Assistant Professor in Japanese Language

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at The George Washington University (https://eall.columbian.gwu.edu/ ) invites applications for a full-time, specialized faculty appointment at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor in Japanese Language expected to begin Fall 2025. The initial term is 3 years and the position is renewable upon successful review.

The successful candidate is expected to teach all levels of Japanese language with a 4-3 teaching load and to be actively engaged in contemporary teaching approaches and use digital technologies and social media in teaching and service. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to curriculum and program development and academic and student events.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree in the field of Japanese language and culture, native or near native fluency in Japanese and English, and evidence of excellence in teaching Japanese at the college level, as demonstrated by evaluations. ABD applicants will be considered but must have PhD in hand by date of appointment.

Salary of $75,000-$80,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
