Position: Adjunct Instructor of Japanese

Description & Duties: The Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures is seeking a part-time instructor of Japanese. This position will begin in August 2025. The instructor will teach one undergraduate course per semester. Each course is 4 credits, and meets three days a week. Salary is $1,333 per credit hour ($10,665 per academic year for teaching 8 credits).
Duties include course preparation, teaching using department-approved objectives following ACFTL guidelines, grading and assessing student achievement of learning outcomes, meeting with students during office hours, and communicating with students outside of class through Brightspace, e-mail, or telephone. There is no work visa available for this position.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree, near-native fluency in English and Japanese required. Second Language Acquisition degree and online teaching experience are preferred. Evidence of successful teaching is also desirable.
