Japanese part-time teaching position

Position Summary: The Foreign Language department is seeking a Japanese adjunct professor to substitute and/or teach Elementary and Intermediate level Japanese language courses in the evening on Zoom or in person. JCCC is located in Overland Park, KS, the second largest city in the state of Kansas and part of the greater Kansas City Metro. The Kansas City Metro is known for its museums, restaurants, and music and art scenes. JCCC is similarly dedicated to creating and maintaining a rich cultural community, with an award-winning contemporary art museum and center for the performing arts located on campus. The Foreign Language Department is part of the Communications Division. Many of our students are non-traditional, military veterans, immigrants, international and first-generation college students. JCCC has a diverse student population and is dedicated to increasing its diversity. The successful applicant for this job will teach the equivalent of 5-10 credit hours per semester in Japanese or will serve as a substitute for day and/or evening courses. Description The Japanese Language Program (JLP) in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University invites applications for a position at the rank of Lecturer in Japanese beginning July 1, 2025.  The position is full-time with multi-year renewal contingent on successful review.  Primary responsibilities include teaching two to three courses in Japanese language each semester in consultation with the JLP Director and EALAC department administration.  Administrative duties include curriculum development (both individual and collaborative) and assisting with the design and execution of program events.  MA degree required, PhD or EdD preferred.  High value is placed on ability to work closely with colleagues in the program.  Review of applications begins immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies (KCJS) Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies is searching for a KCJS Postdoctoral Fellow for the academic year 2025-2026, with the possibility of extension. Based at Doshisha University in Kyoto, KCJS is an undergraduate study abroad program governed by a consortium of thirteen American universities and administered by the Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement at Columbia University. The KCJS Fellow is expected to engage in their own research and teach one course each semester in Kyoto. One course should be in the fellow’s own field of interest, while the second should be a broad introductory survey of Japanese civilization.
