Mayumi and Masao Oka Professional Development Scholarship for 2027 AATJ Spring Conference
March 17-18, 2027, Boston, MA

Thanks to the generous donation from Mr. and Mrs. Oka, five AATJ members will each be awarded $1,000 to support travel, registration, and lodging for the 2027 AATJ Spring Conference. (Conference registration coming soon.)
The AATJ Spring Conference is held in conjunction with the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) Spring Conference. Registration for the AAS Spring Conference (March 18-21, 2027) is separate from AATJ Spring Conference registration, and can be accessed here. The application period is now closed.
Eligibility
- You must be an AATJ member.
- You must attend the 2027 AATJ Spring Conference for the full day on Thursday, March 18, from opening remarks through the final session.
- You must not have received or expect to receive other funding from AATJ (including Cheng & Tsui Grant) to attend the Spring Conference.
- If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you are required to have registered for the Spring Conference before scholarship funds will be distributed to you.
- If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you will be required to submit a report about your Spring Conference experience, portions of which may be included in a future AATJ Newsletter, the AATJ website, and/or other AATJ Materials.
- You are highly encouraged to attend the Welcome Reception on Wednesday, March 17.
- Early-career individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
