AATJ 2026 JNHS 応援 Grant

AATJ is pleased to announce the Japanese National Honor Society 応援 (Ouen) Grant. This grant is for current AATJ members and must be used for JNHS activities as part of advocacy and/or seeding money. This grant provides $400 to ten JNHS chapters to be used toward activities between May 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027. Upon completion of the grant activity/activities, recipients will provide a written report about the activities for which the funds were used.

The grant may be used for the following:

  • Induction ceremony and reception
  • Speaker honorarium/gift
  • Onigiri action
  • Japan Cultural Festival/activities support
  • JNHS T-shirts
  • Expense for exchange projects such as pen pal postage

This grant should not be used for the following:

  • JNHS Chapter fees
  • JNHS Student application fees
  • Delivery/postage fees
  • Gift cards, etc.
  • Indirect costs/expenses

Selection Process:

  • Submit the application. Please be prepared to provide a description of the planned activity(ies) as well as a description of anticipated expenses for the planned activity(ies)
  • The application period begins on January 1, 2026 and ends on February 28, 2026.
    • The 2026 Application Period has ended.
  • Grant recipients will be notified by early April, 2026.
  • Grant recipients will be announced in the September AATJ Newsletter.
  • AATJ will issue grant checks directly to recipient teacher unless they request otherwise.
