Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Global Network, composed of 12 Japanese language educators’ organizations, is organizing a series of online events. The events pay particular attention to issues reflective of the characteristics of Japanese language education in various regions of the world. On August 7, 2021 (US Time), the American Association of Teachers of Japanese will host the fifth event.

2020年からのコロナ渦において、世界各国地域から12団体の加盟する日本語教育グローバルネットワーク(GN)では、「グローバルにつながるオンライン日本語教育シリーズ」と称し、それぞれの団体が主催し、オンラインイベントのリレーを行っています。2021年の8月7日（アメリカ時間）に全米日本語教師会もその一環のイベントを開催することになりました。

Our everyday life is based on a multitude of languages and their variations, that are well beyond our individual awareness. Situated in a “multilingual society” as such, how might Japanese language education relate to such realities surrounding learners? For this event, a Virtual Panel of Japanese language educators, representing varied situations, is made available in the form of video recordings to the registrants, who will be invited to watch several of them. On the day of the event, participants will explore the potentialities of Japanese language education in smaller discussion groups.

私たちの⽇常⽣活は、知る由もないほど多種多様な⾔語、そして、それらのバリエーションによって成り⽴っています。そのような「多⾔語社会」の中で⾏われる⽇本語教育は、 ⼀体どのように私たちを取り巻く社会環境と関わっていくことができるのでしょうか。今回のイベントでは、様々な状況で教育実践に関わっていらっしゃる先⽣⽅のお話を伺うことで、私たちの⾏っている「教育」という活動について、もう⼀度をみなさんと考え、⾔ 語教育の可能性を模索していきましょう。

Japanese language educators from all over the world were invited to register for this free 2-hour event, to watch the series of short videos, and then to engage with the presenters and one another at an online event on August 7 (7:00 PM US Central time) / August 8 (9:00 AM JST).

ビデオでは、先生方のおっしゃりたいことが一番伝わるであろうと考えられる言語、つまり、日本語、あるいは、英語、もしくはその2つを行き来するような形で、お話をいただきます。 このイベントは世界の各地で日本語教育に携わる方々にもお知らせします。ご登録いただいた方には、事前に何本かのビデオを視聴していただき、イベント当日はブレークアウトルームで小グループのディスカッションにご参加いただきます。このイベントはアメリカ中西部夏時間8月7日午後7時（日本時間8月8日午前９時）からの開催となります。
